Magnus Unger was born in Stockholm in 1942, he is married and has two grown up children.
Mr. Unger graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1967. The same year he joined Semper AB where he eventually became export manager. In 1971 he emigrated with his family to Kenya in East Africa where he worked as an adviser to the coop movement in the coffee industry.
In 1973 Magnus Unger joined the SCA/Mölnlycke Group, and in 1976 he was appointed MD for Mölnlycke in the Netherlands and later also for Belgium.
In 1982 Mr. Unger was recruited by the Atlas Copco Group. He began as MD of Atlas Copco Belgium and Zaire in 1983 and in 1986 became responsible for Atlas Copco’s operations in Great Britain. Finally in 1988 he was promoted to president of the business area MCT (Mining and Construction Technique) and as a consequence thereof executive vice president in the Atlas Copco Group. In this position he was responsible for 6 billion SEK in turnover and 6000 employees in 50 subsidiaries around the world.
In 1992 Mr. Unger retired as “a hired hand in big business” and became an independent businessman/board member to a number of small and midsize companies.
Historical connections with the Lundin Family:
Magnus Unger met Adolf Lundin in the early 90’s. He served on the Board of Sands Petroleum AB from 1995 to 1998 and on the board of Lundin Oil AB between 1998 and 2001. He owns 50.000 shares in Lundin Petroleum AB.
